Sewing Machine Operator


CHEFtog, a manufacturer of culinary apparel for the food & beverage and hospitality industries, is currently seeking a part-time industrial sewing machine operator to work in our manufacturing facility in West Chicago, IL.  Flexible work schedule of 20-40 hours per week.  Be part of the revolution and get Tog’d! 


The sewing machine operator’s primary responsibilities include:  

  • Sewing a variety of garments to exact specifications of work order
  • Cutting patterns and/or pieces as well as trim work
  • Inspecting garments for correct stitching, uniformity and overall quality including measuring garments to verify conformance to standards using rulers and take measures


  • Minimum of 2 years sewing experience using industrial machines
  • Read/Write/Speak English proficiently
  • Ability to stand, sit and/or walk around for up to 8 hours per day
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be mindful of safety requirements and comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Replace spools of thread & insert bobbins
  • Must be able to draw threads through needles and adjust machine functions to meet requirements of the sewing project
  • Ability to sew to exact specifications of work order
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn new techniques as well as offer innovative ideas and opinions
  • Push & pull up to 50 pounds
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds

Please remember that standard style aprons have two waist ties.
An apron with 50" waist ties has a 50" tie on each side of the apron.

50" Tie + the apron width + 50" Tie = the total around the wearer.
